CHESS IN THE FAST LANE MICHAEL ADAMS BEST GAMES 1989 1993
Published in Paperback by Cadogan Guides (October, 1996)
Author: Adams & Adams
Average review score:

Unknown gem
This is an excellent collection of games annotated by one of the top 10 players in the world, Mickey Adams. The games are great, and feature lots of openings that you don't often see in the game collections from the top GMs, but that you see a lot in your own internet games: Benko Gambit, Pirc, Modern, Smith-Morra, Giocuo Piano, Trompowsky, Wade Defense, and a host of Sicilians and Ruy Lopezes. I have found this book to be most useful and entertaining. The annotations are crisp and to the point. They remind me a little of Fischer's annotations, though Adams uses more words than Fischer. Excellent production by Cadogan: crisp, white paper, lots of diagrams, two-column format. In my opinion, this book would be more in demand if it were better known.

Chicora : lost on Lake Michigan

This is an exciting account of Chicoras demise
I found "Chicora : Lost on Lake Michigan" to be an engrossing read. In recounting the story using excerpts from newspaper accounts I really got a good insight on the prevailing mindset of the people of that time. The book is not just about a shipwreck. It deals also with an issue that is vitually unknown in todays society: lack of information. In todays world we are sometimes presented with more information than we can handle, modern technology, in its various forms, phone, fax, TV, radio, and internet keeps us connected to the world in a way unheard of in the time of the Chicoras demise. The book describes how crowds of people waited for the newspapers, or relied on, sometimes erroneous, word of mouth updates on what was really going on. Reading about these methods as primary for dissemination of information was really a visit to times gone by. The pace of the book did slow quite a bit as the author described, in detail, a history and motivation behind each crew member, but overall I found it a worthwhile read.

"The Choir Invisible" was wonderfully intriguing ,wholesome
I enjoyed reading "The Choir Invisible" because in an age where "The Right Thing To Do" is an antique, and "Play now pay later" philosophy reigns supreme , it's good to see someone have the courage of their convictions. Totally enthralling!!!!

Kathy Ross's Books Are Superb!
I have 2 children, ...and we sit down with Ms. Ross's books andthey pick out a project. The instructions are very easy to follow andmost of the supplies needed can be found around the home. They don'ttake much time to complete which helps to keep the kids attention. Wemade several decorations for gifts for the kids grandparents and theywere thrilled and the kids are so proud of their projects. I alreadyown 7 of her books and plan to get them all eventually. I highlyrecommend this and all her books.

Dr. Lane's work is truly magnificent
As it may already show, Dr. Lane's work is outstanding. Working at a troubled, low-income elementary school where the "Edison Project" is the hot topic shows the amount of dedication is at work.
